Canned Fish
The majority of Oceana's canned fish products are processed at the cannery in St Helena Bay. In order to ensure absolute freshness, the cleaning, processing and canning is all done within a few hours of the boat arriving at the quayside. Cannery personnel immediately clean and gut the fish and cut off the heads and tails, ensuring absolute freshness and a long shelf life. (All canneries are certified to produce Kosher and Halaal products)

Demand for canned pilchards on the local and export markets is strong, often with insufficient supply to fully meet demand. Oceana's canned pilchard label, Lucky Star is the leading canned fish brand of its category, with the UK label, Glenryck also recording excellent performances. Oceana's canned fish products are leaders in the field due to their quality, nutritional benefits and excellent taste.

  Tuna
Due to the continued success of Lucky Star pilchards, Oceana has introduced a canned tuna - also under the Lucky Star label. The canned tuna is available shredded in two varieties; in salt water and vegetable oil. In a canned fish category where value for money, good taste, health benefits and convenience are the key expectations, Lucky Star offers tuna consumers premium quality, excellent nutrition, convenience and value for money.

Oceana Brands also produces and markets Lucky Star Sardines in vegetable oil. The sardines are caught by purse seine method off the coast of South Africa and transported to the cannery at St Helena Bay for processing.

  Mackerel
Products in the Lucky Star canned fish range are canned Pacific Mackerel Middlecut canned in brine and canned Jack Mackerel in Tomato Sauce, Hot Chilli Sauce and Middlecut. The fish are caught in the waters off Chile and Peru, by purse seine methods.
