Canned cat food range

  • The top quality fish that go into Lucky Pet products are caught by means of purse seining by trawlers operating close to the shoreline to ensure optimal freshness and minimal damage during the journey back to the shores.
  • The fish are kept in refrigerated holds in cold seawater, or on ice as they are transported back to the factory for processing.
  • Cannery personnel manage automated processes of cleaning, heading, tailing and gutting the fish.
  • Maize meal is also added to ensure good consistency of the product and sunflower oil to promote a thick, glossy coat.
  • The minced fish is filled into cans and pre-cooked prior to seaming the can
    ends on.
  • Lucky Pet products have no added colourants or flavourants and are packaged in a convenient 400 g can suitable for four meal times for your cat.
  • The cans are then sterilised in a retort to guarantee product safety.
  • Prior to the cans being released, all product undergoes microbiological testing to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
  • Products only qualify for the Lucky Pet label once they have met and passed
    the food safety standards.
  • Once labelled, Lucky Pet is distributed through our sales agents to the trade for
    purchase by our valued consumers.
  • All Lucky Star production facilities in both South Africa and Namibia are
    HACCP compliant.
