This division of the Oceana Group is an industry leader with over 90 years’ experience in fishing, processing and marketing. Factories are situated on both the West and East Coast of South Africa, from Lamberts Bay to Port Elizabeth.

Oceana Lobster, Squid & French Fries is internationally respected as a reliable producer and exporter of prime quality South African Rock Lobster and Squid products . The division produces and exports quality live and frozen products . It also produces and markets value added potato products through Lamberts Bay Foods. The company operates in strict accordance with Ministry controls and annual TAC's. These include minimum carapace length, a closed season, catch limits and prohibition of taking ovigerous females or soft-shelled specimens. This ensures (secures) resource sustainability and continuity of supply.

On-going research, development and training ensure that our products are produced to the highest international standards. The complete process is handled in accordance with HACCP standards; from catching, processing and through the cold chain, to arrival in international markets.

Oceana operates a fleet of specialised vessels catching along a thousand kilometre stretch of South Africa's coastline. We operate a fleet of 11 vessels and 2 HACCP accredited processing plants which produce live, whole frozen, nitrogen frozen and Lobster tails. Products are marketed across the globe to the Far East, Europe and the USA.

Lobsters are caught with baited lobster pots and kept alive in sea-water tanks. World class factories ensure hygienic preparation, freshness and international quality standards. Only lobsters in perfect condition are processed for export. Oceana has extensive freezing and cold storage facilities at each of its factories as well as direct access to Cape Town International Airport.

Oceana Squid
(Loligo Reynaudi)


A fleet of five freezer vessels catch and sea-freeze Loligo Reynaudi squid. These vessels are fitted with sophisticated temperature analysing equipment, sonar plotters, on-board processing, packing and blast freezing equipment. The squid are caught by hand-line jig method and immediately blast frozen at sea. The product is then landed to a HACCP-accredited factory at Port Elizabeth on South Africa's east coast to be boxed and sold to Europe and Japan.
French Fries

Lamberts Bay Foods produces french fries, hash browns, wedges and other potato products at its factory in Lamberts Bay, sourcing potatoes from all major growing areas in South Africa and selling products to wholesalers, retailers and fast food chains. Product is also retailed under the name brand, Gold Seal. Now the local food service industry can serve up the Perfect French Fry - consistently crisp and golden on the outside, soft and delicious on the inside!
