Training and development

Oceana’s training and development policy is implemented by the central training and development team, which reports to the group HR manager. This policy supports the learning, growth and development of all employees and ensures a uniform and fair approach to training and development. The group provides training and development to all levels of employees.

During 2013, 1 720 employees were trained of whom 90% were black and 39% were female. The types of initiatives implemented, included:

  • Adult Education and Training (AET) (literacy)
  • Learnerships
  • Supervisory Skills Programme
  • Emerging Managers Development Programme
  • Leadership Management Development Programme
  • “Leader as a Coach” Programme
